Welcome to 3rd Global Congress on Microwave Energy Applications

The Department of Information Technologies and Communications of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena together with the Association for Microwave Power in Europe for Research and Education (AMPERE) are pleased to announce the 3rd Global Congress on Microwave Energy Applications (3rd GCMEA) which will be kindly hosted at the Facultad de Ciencias de la Empresa (Faculty of Business) of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena, Cartagena, Spain, July 25-29, 2016.

The Faculty of Business is located next to the seafront and the marina, walking-distance to city centre, cultural and touristic places. Cartagena is famous due to its unique artistic heritage, with a number of ruins such as the Roman Theatre and a lot of Phoenician, Roman, Byzantine and Moorish archaeological remains.

The scope of the Conference is concentrated on microwave energy applications, and includes, among other topics:

  • Energy and Environment: Microwave Green Processing, Microwave Plasmas, Microwave Pyrolysis,…
  • Devices
  • Enhanced Chemical Reactions
  • Nanotechnology
  • Material Synthesis
  • Equipments
  • New innovation and commercial strategies
  • Modeling and numerical techniques
  • Radiation safety and standards
  • Microwaves in Everyday Life: Food, Transportation, Construction, Ceramics, Metals, Polymers, Medical, Chemical…
  • Delivery Systems
  • Microwave Assisted extraction
  • Meta-Materials
  • Industrial applications / Manufacturing / Processing Controls
  • Dielectric and Magnetic Measurements at microwave frequencies
  • Process Control
  • Other relevant topics

Key Features

We have endeavoured to make this event "Special" and "Different" from a traditional Conference:

  1. The GCMEA happens every 4 years in a different continent (previous venues where in Japan and USA), as the Summer Olympic Games. It has been set to be a huge window where worldwide advances can be shared globally. This edition is more special than ever since the virtual meeting is being arranged, which means that the conference is to be transmitted on streaming through the Internet (like a webinar). This action is based on the knowledge regarding the cost of the conference, as a number of potential attendees may not be able to afford the travel expenses.

  2. The event has taken its shape with about 14 worldwide recognized outstanding personalities who will provide Plenary Lectures on the most updated state of the art in MW and RF Science and Technology. More time will be offered for these plenary sessions, in fact double) compared with the usual shorter time allowed for the technical sessions. A short course preceding the main Congress will take place comprising of five lectures, for those who want to acquire new skills.

  3. There will be a space to discuss the "hot" topics of relevant interest for the community. The local organizing committee is configuring a set of outstanding Round Table discussions.

  4. It is high time to expand the borders of the microwave applications knowledge. In this conference several profiles are summoned up (students, scientists, engineers) coming from different fields (health, agriculture, industrial, fine arts, environment, etc.). The goal is to boost the synergy, helping everybody become aware of how microwaves may improve their duties, avoiding the typical endogamy within the same pre-defined cohort. You never recall anything that you are not aware of, so 3GCMEA would like to open borders and disseminate knowledge worldwide. 3GCMEA would like to be a melting pot where one can build a new strategic networking and seeding new ideas to explore: different views help to discover the universe of things.

  5. The full papers, posters, presentations including the recorded sessions will be available for the participants, as compared to simply having only the short abstracts in a proceedings book.

  6. Selected papers will be published on the AMPERE Newsletter and also on the COMPEL (The International Journal for Computation and Mathematics in Electrical and Electronic Engineering).
