Brief CV: Antonio José Lozano-Guerrero was born in El Verger, Spain, in 1976. He received the Dipl. Ing. degree in Telecommunications engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV), Valencia, Spain in 2003 and his Ph.D. degree at the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT), Cartagena, Spain in 2008. From 2003 to 2004, he was a Research Assistant with the Department of Communications, UPV. In 2004, he joined the Department of Information Technologies and Communications, UPCT, where he is currently an Associate Lecturer. His current research areas are Electromagnetic Compatibility, Numerical Techniques in Electromagnetism and Industrial Microwave Heating Systems.



Name of the lecturer: PhD. Felipe Peñaranda-Foix
Title of the contribution: Measurement of permittivity at microwave frecuencies

Brief CV: Felipe L. Peñaranda-Foix was born in Benicarló (Spain) in 1967. He received the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Madrid, Spain, in 1992, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV), Valencia, Spain, in 2001. In 1992, he joined the Departamento de Comunicaciones at UPV, where he is currently Associate Professor and also researcher at ITACA Institute at UPV. His current research interests include electromagnetic scattering, microwave circuits and cavities, sensors and microwave heating applications. He has co-authored more than 100 papers in referred journals and conference proceedings and more than 50 engineering reports for companies. Dr. Peñaranda-Foix is IEEE and AMPERE member and reviewer of several international Journals.

Name of the lecturer: John F Gerling
Title of the contribution: Microwave Component Configurations for Industrial Heating Systems

Brief CV: Mr John F Gerling's background includes more than thirty years in microwave heating for consumer, commercial, industrial and scientific applications. His primary work has been the engineering and development of standard and custom products, including microwave clothes dryers, vending ovens, single and multimode applicators, batch cavity and conveyor systems, instrumentation and process controls. He also provides technical support for application development, system integration and failure analysis of microwave systems. Mr Gerling founded Gerling Applied Engineering, Inc. as a consulting firm, later transitioning to manufacturing of microwave heating equipment. In 2015 GAE was acquired by Muegge GmbH (Reichelsheim, Germany), a leading manufacturer of microwave equipment for industrial heating and plasma processing.



Name of the lecturer: PhD. A.C. Metaxas
Title of the contribution: From Characterisation to industrial applications of RF

Brief CV: Andrew (Ricky) Metaxas took his PhD (London) in 1968 and after a postdoctoral on fusion he joined the ECRC (now CTech) researching RF and microwave use in industry. In 1982 he joined the University of Cambridge Engineering Department, where he founded the Electricity Utilisation Group. He co-authored Industrial Microwave Heating and authored Foundations of Electroheat: A Unified Approach, spanning topics from ohmic heating to laser welding. He was a founder member of AMPERE, President from 1995 to 2005 and from 2002 Director of AC Metaxas and Associates. He has in his name the Ricky Metaxas Pioneer Award which was established at the 1GCMEA in Japan and was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award bestowed on him at the 2GCMEA held under the auspices of MRS. He is a Fellow of IET, Honorary President of AMPERE and Life Fellow at St John's College, Cambridge UK..

Title of the contribution: Microwaves and RF - scaling up equipment for chemical, plasma, food and drying industrial use

Brief CV: Dr Marilena Radoiu (Chartered Chemist, Member of the Royal Society for Chemistry) received her M.Sc. in Organic Technological Chemistry from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest in 1993 and her Ph.D. in Radiochemistry and Nuclear Chemistry from the same University in 1998. From November 2008 until March 2016 she joined SAIREM SAS as the Research and Business Development Director where she focused on the development of microwave equipment for microwave-assisted chemical synthesis, microwave-assisted biomass extraction and plasma for Laboratory and Industrial end users.
